Back in the wild 1970's, Maynard Ferguson's bands scraped the ceilings on the east coast. I saw a number of these shows and they were overwhelming.
Of that period, two releases come to mind that were real sentimental favorites. First, the incredible Primal Scream, with Steve on the drums and Chick on the keyboards and then the very controlled, It's My Time, which had the young Roberto Petaccia on drums (RIP, Roberto); a monster drummer that was claimed by cancer too soon (the name of the album seems ironic, now).
The material on that album did not really showcase the talent that was in this young man but he put each of the tunes down and this actually is one of the few recordings that he did, that are available to us.
Both of these releases are now available again, at Wounded Bird. Check them out.
